About this guide
One person, one americano, one scale. No name, and a reason for that.
What this site is
A record of every coffee shop visited in Cambodia, scored out of 100 on the same drink.
The same americano is ordered everywhere. It is paid for like any other customer would pay for it. The café is not told in advance, and nobody introduces themselves. Then a number goes on the page, with the date of the visit next to it.
That is the whole site. There is nothing else behind it.
Why there is no name on it
Because the visits have to be anonymous, and a name would end that.
A café that knows it is being reviewed makes a better cup — and the cup you would have been served is the one worth measuring. The moment the person doing this is identifiable, every visit becomes a performance, and every score becomes worthless.
So there is no name, no photograph, and no biography. What there is instead: a published method, visit dates on every entry, and an annual revisit to check whether the quality holds. Those can be verified. A name could not.
The person writing this lives in Cambodia. That is the only thing worth knowing about them, because it is what makes coming back every year possible.
What the scores are, and are not
They are an opinion, formed by applying a public scale. The scale is published in full, including the five criteria, the thresholds, and what it deliberately refuses to measure.
They are not a verdict on a business. A café can serve a mediocre americano and be an excellent restaurant. This site measures one drink and says so.
They are dated. A score reflects one visit, on one day, at one hour. Cafés are revisited once a year and scores change. When they do, the new score is published, the old one stays visible, and each carries the date of its visit.
Nothing here is paid for
No café pays to appear. No café pays to rank higher. There is no advertising, no affiliate link, and no sponsored placement anywhere on this site.
The annual award follows the same rule: free, unsolicited, and impossible to buy.
Every coffee tasted for this guide came out of pocket.
If something is wrong
Factual errors are corrected. A price, an address, an opening time, a phone number — if any of it is wrong, say so and it will be fixed.
Opinions stand. A café that disagrees with its score is welcome to say so, and the scorecard will keep saying what was measured and why.
Either way, there is a contact form, and messages are read.
FAQ
Who writes this?
One person, living in Cambodia, visiting cafés anonymously. No name is published, because a name would make the visits impossible.
Why should I trust a guide with no author?
Because what can be checked is published: the method, the criteria, the thresholds, the date of every visit, and what the scale ignores. Trust the protocol rather than the person — it is the only part of this that can be verified.
Are the cafés told they are being reviewed?
No. Not before, not during, not after.
Do you accept free coffee?
No. Every cup is paid for.
Can I suggest a café?
Yes, through the contact form. It will be visited without warning, and the score will be whatever it is.
How do I report an error?
Through the contact form. Factual errors are corrected; scores are not withdrawn.
